"I love Norval as I have never loved any place save Cavendish. It is as if I had known it all my life..."

"Montgomery Christmas in Norval" celebrates Lucy Maud Montgomery one of our most famous former citizens who lived in our village from 1926-1935. The annual event since 1993 is held each year on or close to the author's birthday which was November 30. 1874.

Norval churches all participate: St. Paul's Anglican Church, Norval United Church, Norval Presbyterian Church and St. Elias Ukrainian Church on Heritage Road. All the churches join in the festivities by hosting church bazaars while the brass band of Norval United plays Christmas songs through out the village.

Special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, and Anne of Green Gables are always an event highlight!

TERRITORIAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We would like to begin by acknowledging that the land on which we gather, and which St. Paul's Church operates is part of the Treaty lands and Territory of Anishinaabe, Huron-Wendat, Iroquois and home to Metis, and was most recently territory of the Mississauga of the Credit First Nation.

On this day our meeting place is still occupied by many indigenous peoples, First Nation, Metis and Inuit, from across Turtle Island (North America).

We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land, and by doing so give respect to our first inhabitants.
